Local Teen Singer/Songwriter, Mia Rocks, Performs at McLean Day 2019
McLean, Va.— Mia Rocks, a 17-year-old singer/songwriter who lives in the D.C. metro area, will perform for McLean Day 2019. The singer's alternative pop band plays both covers of popular songs and original music. Produced by the McLean Community Center (MCC), the festival will be held on May 18, at Lewinsville Park, 1659 Chain Bridge Rd. All performers have been vetted by the staff of The Alden, a division of MCC.

McLean, Va.— High school students are invited to showcase their artistic achievements in the 2019 James C. Macdonald Performing Arts Scholarship Competition. Sponsored by The Alden, this competition encourages their artistic development and promotes the study of the arts. The deadline to apply is Friday, Jan. 25.
The competition is open to ninth- through 12th-grade students who reside or attend school in Dranesville Small Tax District 1A. A $1,200 scholarship prize will be given to first-place winners in each of the following categories: Dance, Theater, Vocal Music and Instrumental Music; second-place winners in all four categories will receive $800; third-place winners will each receive $400.
