5/11/20 MCC COVID-19 Response Update
To help keep our community healthy and to comply with Virginia Governor Northam’s executive orders to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the MCC Governing Board, in cooperation with MCC staff recommendations, has decided to cancel many of the center’s summer programs and events, including McLean Day and the July 4th Fireworks Celebration at Langley High School.

We are canceling our full-day summer camps, including Camp McLean and The Old Firehouse Summer Camp Trips and we are providing full refunds. Without the ability to hire staff, prepare activities and meet licensing requirements, we are unable to offer these programs. We have chosen to announce this decision now to allow our patrons and their families the opportunity to make alternative summer plans.

Depending on the health of our community, we may be able to offer a limited number of special activities in late summer. We will be offering, at no-cost, two- or three-day virtual activities during the time when we would have been holding camps. We will send you an update on our summer programs and offerings as soon as we have details and information available. Also, residents can look for updates on our website and social media platforms.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we all adjust and work to care for the greater community.

Class Refund Policy

The Center issues refunds when the Center cancels a class or activity. The Center also issues refunds when the Center changes a class or an activity and the change makes it impossible for the patron to continue with the class. Please note, the Center cancels a class one week prior to the start date if the class does not meet minimum enrollment.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to registrar@mcleancenter.org. Refunds will be made according to the type of payment received; if the fee is paid by check, a refund check will be issued by Fairfax County within four (4) to six (6) weeks of the date on which the request is received.

Once a class, camp or activity is in session, refunds may be granted only for medical reasons or for extenuating circumstances as determined by the General Programs Director and the Registrar. Medical requests must be accompanied by a doctor’s note (verification).

Class/Activity Refunds
Patrons who submit refund requests 14 days or more before the start date of a class or activity, will be granted a refund, minus a $25 processing fee. Refunds requested less than 14 days before the start date of the class or activity will not be granted.

Camp McLean and Old Firehouse Teen Camp

  • Refund/Withdrawal Requests: Must be in writing by emailing to registrar@mcleancenter.org
  • Before April 1st: A full refund will be issued.
  • After April 1st, a full refund will be issued, minus a $100 processing fee. If a replacement can be found the $100 processing fee will also be refunded once the replacement has been registered. If a replacement cannot be found, a refund of the processing fee will not be issued.

Trip and Tour Refunds
Patrons who submit refund requests 14 days or more before the date of the trip or tour will receive a full refund. Refunds will not be granted to patrons who submit requests less than 14 days before trip or tour date due to the costs associated with meal reservations, tickets and chartered transportation.

Tour Payment
Checks must be made out to the company listed within the tour description. No credit cards or cash accepted. Please note: due to the escalating cost of fuel, some tour fees may result in an additional charge.
