How to Register for Community Service Tuesdays 


After School Program
FREE Membership benefit. (Charges may apply to field trips.)
Mondays-Fridays, when FCPS is in session
2:30-6 p.m.

Field trips are listed on the activity calendar and vary according to trip/planned activity.  These field trips are popular and we know your plans may change; if you need to cancel, please be courteous and give 24 hours in advance cancellation notice.  

 

  • Trips need at least 6 participants enrolled; trips limited to the first 20 participants (wait list available)
  • We accept cash/checks at the Teen Center no later than the date of the trip (make check(s) payable to OFTC)
  • Teens must register for the trips.  You can register in-person, phone, online or by email
  • Participants will be back to Teen Center by 6 p.m. for pick-up 

    Transportation for Cooper Middle School: 

    Cooper students are picked up by Teen Center staff in a large white van at Kiss and Ride. Students should arrive at Kiss and Ride promptly after dismissal.Teens on a field trip to Lewinsville Park On late-bus days, call the Teen Center by 3:00 p.m. at 703-448-8336 to schedule van pickup. We only send a van for late pickup if we get a request. The late-bus schedule is:

    Mondays: 4:00 p.m. dismissal, van leaves at 4:20 p.m.
    Wednesdays: 4:20 p.m. dismissal, van leaves at 4:30 p.m.
    Thursdays: 4:20 p.m. dismissal, van leaves at 4:30 p.m.

    Transportation for Longfellow Middle School: 

    Longfellow students take Bus 22 to the Teen Center. Late-bus days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Take late-bus 3.  
     

    After School Friday Trips:

    Come when you can to hang out after school with your friends at a place that offers experiences you'll remember for a lifetime. The Teen Center is a safe, friendly alternative to staying home alone.  The After School Program includes:

    • Weekly trips include laser tag, mini-golf, paint your own pottery, sports in the park, various activities 
    • Snack and drink
    • Community Service Program
    • Crafts, games and sports
    • Various clubs for all interests
    • Computer Lab
    • Homework/study assistance

    Transportation from Cooper and Longfellow Middle Schools

    Registration is required for Friday Trips

    Community Service:
    Earn a Presidential Volunteer Service Award!
    Earn a President's Volunteer Service Award by volunteering for Community Service.

    OFTC is a certifying organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award Program.  Volunteer at the OFTC for at least 50 hours within 12 months to earn a bronze award.

    During an After School Program, the Teen Center provides a variety of on-site/off-site supervised Community Service opportunities.  Community Service Tuesday's will usually be on the 1st, 2nd and last Tuesday of each month from September - May. (school breaks excluded)
     
    Winter Registration will open December 5 for McLean Tax District Residents and December 12 for all others.

     5207.312  2/21/12 3:30-6:00 p.m. Food for others distributes free food directly to our unemployed and low-income neighbors in need in Northern Virginia.  Mebers will pack food for client families and/or stock the warehouse shelves.  We'll work inside the warehouse where it is the same temperature inside as it is outside.  Participants need to dress appropriately for the weather and MUST wear closed-toe-shoes!

     5204.312  4/24/12 3:30-6:00 p.m. Lift Me Up: Lift me up is a therapeutic riding center in Great Falls.  Members will paint, weed and clean and visit with the horses.  Wear pants and closed-toe shoes.

     How to Register for Community Service Tuesdays

    Registration for Community Service Tuesdays is the same as it is for other MCC activities:  online, in person, mail and fax.  Community Service activities are free and for members only. You may also register: 

    In person: at the Old Firehouse from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.
    By phone: Call 703-448-8336 (TEEN) from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.

    To minimize cancelations, please review the activities with your student prior to registering for them. If you need to cancel, please do so as soon as possible so others can sign up.  Most activities have a limit of 20 participants.
