Camp Abrakadoodle

July 7–August 8

Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-12 noon

$130/$145 nondistrict residents. Materials fee: $40, due the first day of camp. Make check payable to “Abrakadoodle.”

These week-long sessions focusing on creating art meet Monday through Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Children must bring a snack.

 

 

July 7–July 11

ZooDoodle Safari

It’s time for an adventure with Abrakadoodle’s ZooDoodle Safari! Create jungle cats, monkeys, elephants and more when you go on this adventure with Abrakadoodle. We’ll make safari art with paints, modeling materials and wild animal print papers. During camp, we will keep a jungle journal to create pictures of your awesome adventure. We will play games, listen and sing along to music plus tell animal stories while on the exploration. So pack your gear and let’s take off on a ZooDoodle Safari with Abrakadoodle!

 

July 14–July 18
Abrakadoodle’s Wild, Wild West

Join Abrakadoodle in the wild, Wild West for a rootin’ tootin’ doodlin’ good time! We will create a pair of cowboy boots, wrangle a rattlesnake, have a powwow with the Indians and create an art adventure you won’t want to miss. We will play games, listen and sing along to music plus tell campfire stories while on the trail. So get ready for super fun at Abrakadoodle’s Wild, Wild West!

 

July 21–25

Abrakadoodle Studio 2

Come join the fun at Abrakadoodle Studio 2 and create art like the masters. Use exciting materials from your own studio kit to create art like Cezanne, Johns, Korky Paul, O’Keeffe and more. Learn new techniques and interesting art words and facts as you use your Abrakadoodle Studio 2 Challenge Book. We will play games, listen and sing along to music with our own Abrakadoodle CD. So come join the fun at Abrakadoodle Studio 2!

 

July 28–August 1
Kids on Canvas

Abrakadoodle presents Kids on Canvas, a unique art camp that teaches children about painting on a variety of canvas surfaces with acrylics. Canvas paper, canvas board and stretched canvas will be used while exploring the versatile medium, acrylics. Master artists that will be introduced along with vocabulary and technique are Renoir, Mondrian, Laurel Burch, Jackson Pollock, Modigliani, Warhol, Sam Francis and Frank Stella. Please Note: Acrylic paint does not wash out of clothing, so dress your children accordingly.

 

August 4–August 8
Portfolio Kids–Time Machine

Exploring art through time is the focus of this special Portfolio Kids session. Students will create a unique portfolio to hold their masterpieces as we study art through the ages from cave paintings, Egyptian and Greek art, masters of the Renaissance and the Impressionist Era and Pop Art to arrive in the 21st century with digital art. Artists such as Monet and Peter Max will be discussed as well as appropriate vocabulary.
