After an extensive, nationwide search involving more than 200 applicants, the McLean Community Center (MCC) Governing Board named Julie D. Rasmussen the Center’s new executive director at the Board’s June 25 meeting. The Center is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
Rasmussen is currently the Chief of Capital Development and Park Operations for the City of Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. She is responsible for the creation of and improvements to the City's facilities and parks, and the operation and management of parks, properties and related programs. Earlier, as chief of the Centers Division, she managed eight full-time, six part-time and 12 seasonal recreation centers with 22 full-time and 200 part-time and seasonal staff members. Rasmussen holds a master’s of business administration from Averett University and a bachelor’s in Communications and Theatre Arts from Ripon College. She is scheduled to assume her position on Monday, August 18.
MCC Board Chair Jan Auerbach said board and staff members of the Center are looking forward to working with Rasmussen as the Center enters a new era. “Her background in managing capital projects will help us as we work to expand our programs and facilities,” she said.
