Classes for Children

General Information: Cost includes all food and materials. All classes are limited to 12 participants. Please make certain your child will be able to meet the following requirements:  

  • be age 8 or older to enroll 
  • be able to work independently and as a member of a team 
  • focus on tasks to completion
  • stand for long periods of time
  • should not attend class when ill

 There is a mandatory dress code. Participants should wear short-sleeved shirts, closed-toe shoes and socks. Long hair must be pulled back close to the head and no jewelry is allowed. Menus are subject to change without notice.Two young girls frosting a cake

Cooking, Manners and Etiquette (ages 8-12)
In this condensed class, kids prepare a variety of foods, then sit and enjoy the rewards of their labor in a multicourse meal served to them restaurant style. The kids’ dining etiquette is critiqued by Chef Joel in a fun and productive manner while he discusses the concepts and rules of manners and etiquette. Recipes and handouts will be presented at the end of class. Instructor: Chef Joel Olson.

Cake Baking and Decorating (ages 8-12)

Learn the basics of making chiffon cake and butter cream frosting and then decorate the cake to take home! Instructor: Chef Joel Olson.

Three 30-Minute Meals for Kids (ages 8-12)
This class covers the most essential skills for any home cook: key kitchen tools, food presentation, menu planning and ingredient substitution. Menu 1: Hot Dog, Potato Salad. Menu 2: Homemade Pizza, Tossed Italian Salad. Menu 3: Cheesy Tots, Chinese Egg Rolls, Coconut Macaroons. Instructor: Chef John Bauhs.

Hands-On Cooking for Kids (ages 8-12)

Learn how to make a perfect fluffy omelet, fresh pasta from scratch, beautiful sushi and flaky pie crusts. Then, we’ll apply our new-found skills in the preparation of Cheese Omelets, Handmade Pasta in a Tomato Sauce, Sweet and Sour Meatballs, and Mini Apple Pies. Instructor: Chef John Bauhs.

It’s not just raw fish! Kids have fun preparing Miso Soup with Shrimp and Peas, California Rolls, Spicy Tuna Rolls and Inside-Out Rolls. Instructor: Chef John Bauhs.

Kids Thanksgiving Side Dishes (ages 8-12)
The menu features sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberries and other favorite ingredients prepared in delicious new ways. Menu: Sweet Potato Puree with Pecan Streusel, Iron-Skillet Succotash, Green Beans with Lemon Butter Bread Crumbs, Fresh Cranberry Salsa and Toasted Almonds. Instructor: Chef John Bauhs.

Mother making cookies with daughterNew! Parent & Child Cookie Decorating 
(ages 6+ with parent)

Come learn the basics of decorating with Pastry Chef Megan Ferrey. Together you and your parent will make fall-themed sugar cookies by using royal icing, run-in icing, candies and chocolate. All supplies included in the cost. Instructor: Pastry Chef Megan Ferrey.

Gingerbread House Workshops
