Historical Swordsmanship: Rapier and Two-Handed Sword
For ages 9-13. Based on Renaissance and Medieval techniques, the swordfighting disciplines explored are the Rapier (the traditional dueling sword) and the Two-handed sword (the knightly European medieval sword). Practice swords used in class are the shinai (made of bamboo) and the foil. Students use protective jackets, masks, and a pair of gloves. A registration form must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian and an equipment fee of $29 is payable to VAF on the first day.

Olympic Sport Fencing: The Other Martial Art
For ages 9-13, no previous training needed. All fencing camp participants must be nine-years-old by the start of camp. This action-filled class offers a great physical fitness program for kids! Instructor teaches the fundamentals -- footwork, handwork and strategy – of this Olympic sport using safety-tipped swords, protective jackets, masks and gloves. Instructor: Virginia Fencing Academy
