Camp will be held at a Fairfax County Public School in McLean, Virginia.

Requirements for Registration:

These additional forms will be required two weeks prior to the start of camp. Note: Without these forms your child will not be admitted to camp. You may drop the completed forms off for Camp Director Michael Fisher at the Old Firehouse Teen Center, 1440 Chain Bridge Road.

·          Emergency Health History Form. This form may not be faxed as signatures must be original

·          A current and completed Certification of Immunization

·          A Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Physical Examination signed by a physician. A copy of the form is acceptable. Any camper under the age of 6 years old must submit a Physical Examination that is dated after August 2006. This must be turned into the community center one month before the child enters camp.

·          In accordance with Virginia law, the Center’s staff is required to see a document with proof of your child’s age. You must bring one of the following when you register your child for camp

o         a certified copy of his or her birth certificate

o         a U.S. passport (or State-Department-issued documentation)

o         Virginia school report card. Note: Please do not leave the originals at the Old Firehouse Teen Center

Camp McLean registration forms will not be accepted prior to Jan. 7, and registration will end June 1, 2008.

Camp McLean Information  

Tot Camp 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

For three and four year olds. Little Explorer camp participants must be toilet-trained and have turned three years old by June 1, 2008. Campers will remain on site at all times. Each session offers a weekly theme, in-house entertainment and water play. Tot campers will have the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts, nature activities, outdoor play, story time, singing and small group games. The camper/staff ratio is one adult to six campers. Tot Camp is limited to 24 campers per session.

Explorers’ Camp 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

For five years olds (by September 30, 2008). Each session will offer two days of water play. There will be one special event each week, with in-house entertainment. Campers will not go on field trips. Everything is onsite. Each session offers campers the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts, music, drama, nature, cooking, games and sports. The camper/staff ratio is one adult to six campers. Maximum enrollment is 24 campers per session.

Voyager Camp: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

For rising 1st graders through rising 3rd graders. Voyager Camp is for children who have completed kindergarten through 2nd grade. The campers will break into groups according to their grade. Campers will spend time participating in arts and crafts, games, sports and nature projects. Campers will travel on one local field trip that will be adventure-oriented and enjoy a swimming trip at a local swimming pool each session. The camper/staff ratio is one adult to eight campers. Maximum enrollment is 68 campers per session.

Voyager Camp: Rising 1st through Rising 3rd graders

For rising 4th-graders. Adventure Camp is for children entering the 4th grade. Campers will spend time participating in arts and crafts, games, sports and nature projects. Adventure Campers will travel on three local field trips that will be adventure-oriented and enjoy weekly swimming trips at a local swimming pool each session. The camper/staff ratio is one adult to ten campers. Maximum enrollment is 30 campers per session.

For rising 5th-graders and rising 6th-graders. Extreme Camp is for children who have completed fourth and fifth grade. Campers will travel on five local field trips that will be adventure-oriented. These campers will not stay onsite. The camper/staff ratio is one adult to ten campers. Campers will meet and be picked up from the Old Firehouse Teen Center, 1440 Chain Bridge Road in McLean. Maximum enrollment is 20 campers per session.

Extended Care

Due to low enrollment over the last two years, Camp McLean will no longer offer the Extended Care Camp option to parents.

End of Summer Party

The Camp McLean End of Summer party will be Friday, August 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. All families that had a child enrolled in a Camp McLean session are invited to attend this party. We will have food, entertainment, a slide show and other activities that the kids have enjoyed throughout the summer. An adult must attended the party with their children.
